My Awesome Food Truck Lunch!

by Carrie with Children with 5 comments

This morning, after we wrapped up Molly’s weekly therapy appointments, we headed over to the King Street Market here in my hometown Jacksonville, Florida.

The food truck craze is making it’s way to Northeast Florida – and the newest is The Salty Fig – A Southern Gastropub.  Some of my fellow foodie friends had told me about their Goat Cheese Stone Ground Grits.    Doesn’t that sound amazing?!

It was a tough decision, but today I had the grits along with an amazing Pork Belly Sandwich for lunch.   YUM!

I especially loved that the Salty Fig guys had a cool setup with their iPad allowing me to pay with my credit card… and even sign a virtual receipt right on the iPad screen!  How cool is that?!

I love supporting local businesses… and it certainly doesn’t hurt when they also have fantastic food too!   A grassroots movement in our area called the Jax Truckies is doing a fantastic job at educating the community and supporting the food truck movement.

Have food trucks made it to your city?   If so, what type of foods are your favorite?!

** I paid for my own meal at Salty Fig.  I was just a regular customer that had such a great experience and  I wanted to share it with you.  **
