If you’ll recall a few weeks ago, I told you that I am a fashion disaster – well, I’m also a hair and makeup disaster. You can usually find me with my hair in a ponytail and very basic makeup.
This past weekend at the Getting Gorgeous event in New York City, I had the opportunity for a little pampering with a makeup mini-makeover from the CVS Beauty Club team.

Celebrity makeup artist and CVS Beauty Board member Mickey Williams transformed me from drab to fab with products from Nuance Salma Hayek collection – available at CVS, of course! I loved chatting with her and we had an instant bond when I learned she grew up in Florida!
She also taught me a few makeup tricks and tips – my favorite one being that if I use purple shades around my brown eyes that it would make them look green! Who knew?! Check out this video of Mickey and her other makeup tips -
Thanks to Vera Sweeney and Audrey McClelland – the ladies of Getting Gorgeous for an afternoon of fun!
** I was invited to the Getting Gorgeous event, while in town for the BlogHer’12 conference. I was not asked to write about my experiences, however I chose to share my thoughts with you. **

Great tips! Mickey did my makeup too at the event, which made me feel great all day especially when posting for photos.

I can relate to your post lol I am kinda plain jane ponytail and go. I think natural is beautiful, but hey we can use a getting gorgeous day too. Awesome post and by the way you look marvalous.

Thank you so much, Kymi! I usually feel more comfortable as my natural self, but really loved getting all fancy for the day!
