When Maggie was just six months old, Penny the pup became a member of our family. It was an exciting time at our house – raising a baby and also a new puppy. While most people thought we were crazy, it turned out to be the perfect time to welcome a dog into our home. They have formed a special bond with each other – just like siblings.
With a baby and a new puppy in the house, it was always an adventure keeping their toys separate. Maggie always wanted to play with Penny’s toys and Penny thought Maggie’s toys were hers. In particular, a small, plush white rabbit. Even though it was Maggie’s toy – Penny would steal it from Maggie’s room. When the rabbit would go missing, I could always count on finding it in Penny’s dog bed. Eventually, I gave in and just let Penny keep the rabbit.
And a few years later when Molly was born, Penny instantly formed a bond with her too. They have explored together and discovered new things as they all grow up together.
Penny loves playing with the girls. Whether it’s Maggie tucking Penny in for her nap or Molly trying to go for a ride *on* Penny – she puts up with a lot! She is a gentle and caring dog – I love watching them play together.
Whether we are going on family walks or taking boat rides – Penny has been there with Maggie and Molly – experiencing life right along with them.
Penny has taught my girls so many wonderful things about life. Compassion. Love and even how to play!
We are so thankful to have Penny as a part of our home. She’s a fantastic dog and we love that she’s taught our girls so much about life. I hope we have many years to come with our loveable Penny the pup.
