Over the summer, we began our search for a toddler sized desk for Maggie. With her entering the Pre-K program this year, we wanted her to have a space in her room for school activities at home. Practicing writing, cutting with scissors and even coloring.
The new Step2 Studio Art Desk was our answer! Part easel/ part table, the desk is perfect for Maggie to color and also practice handwriting in her workbooks. I’ve even found her a few times just sitting at her desk ‘reading’ books – it’s just a great spot for her to unwind in her room.
And even though the desk is in Maggie’s room and it’s technically “hers”, I enjoy using it with Molly too. We’ve been working a lot on learning colors and shapes, so I’ve spent a lot of time with her at the desk too. It’s been a great therapeutic tool for her.
Some of the features I like the most on this desk include –
- Storage – There are two bins that fit on the bottom right of the desk, perfect for art supplies. There’s also a spot on the left side of the desk for coloring books, magazines, paper.
- Chair – The Studio Art Desk comes with a sturdy chair that’s just the right height. I think it’s great for the girls’ posture, not to mention that it’s comfy too! The chair can hold up to 75 pounds, so it will be with us for many years.
- Easy to Clean – My girls have a tendency to get carried away with the washable crayons and markers. Thankfully, the Studio Art Desk is very easy to clean and our messes wipe up pretty easily.
I see us using this desk for many years to come as she grows older and goes further along in school. It won’t be too much longer and she’ll being doing homework here too! (But,let’s not get ahead of ourselves!)

My favorite feature of the step 2 studio art desk is really that it is made with children in mind stirring creativity and providing a safe quiet place to read, write or draw/paint. My granddaughter’s daddy is an artist and she sits with him and draws. This would be perfect for her.
