Bragging Mom Moment: Molly the Superstar!

by Carrie with Children with 25 comments

Molly, my cute five-month old has an extra chromosome (aka Down syndrome)  ..remember?  If not, here’s her story.  Today was her first official day of physical therapy at Hope Haven Children’s Clinic & Family Center.  Yes, we’ve been working with them since she was born, but mostly at-home therapy.  Today we became “regulars”, as we will begin attending therapy sessions every other Wednesday…  this morning they referred to my tiny one as a “superstar“.

Kris, our awesome therapist, said she was thrilled with how well Molly was progressing. She was impressed with her muscle tone and said she was making great strides at holding herself up!  She gave us some new exercises to do at home to continue on the right track and Maggie had a great time playing with all the fun toys, while her little sister got a workout.  We even got to see Molly’s future boyfriend, Ben and his mom Sarah.  (I’ll save that cool story for another day!)

It was a great morning and I’m already looking forward to going back.  The only bad part?  I thought for sure that she would take a good, long nap this afternoon….and she hasn’t yet!  Oh well, maybe it just means an early bed time! (Fingers crossed!)

Our little guy sees Kris every week & she's awesome!!!! Glad Molly is seeing her, too! Most of the time naptime does immediately follow therapy. Kris must have gone easy on her today! lol Look forward to meeting ya'll sometime.

Yay Molly! What great news! I can't ever comment on your blog from work for some reason (between my ancient browser and everything they block, I guess…so that is why you don't hear from me much even though I check in regularly), but I had to jump on my phone so I could leave this comment. This post made me smile…especially that picture at the bottom! Holy heck she's cute!

I my son was sitting on my lap when I pulled up this post. He got all excited "Baby!"
I told she was a super special baby amd asked him if he knew why…
    His response "pretty"
Me: "she is special because she is pretty"
    him "UH-HUH!"

[…] I can’t even begin to describe the huge milestone we’ve now crossed with her hand to mouth coordination.  HUGE!   And I know I say this a lot…but I couldn’t be any more proud of her!  As her physical therapist likes to say “Molly is a superstar.” […]
