Travel Tuesday – Our Trip to Nashville, Part One
by Carrie with Children with
This past weekend was one of those experiences I will never forget. I made, what I like to call, a “pilgrimage” to see Garth Brooks in Nashville over the weekend….and it was worth every penny. We were only there a little over twenty-four hours and I think we saw/did more than most people could do in an entire weekend. We ate at a meat & three restaurant (it’s a Southern thing), visited the Country Music Hall of Fame, got interviewed for national radio and saw Garth Brooks!

Obligatory tourist picture. Please note my husband is wearing Jaguars clothes in Titans country. |
Our first stop was at Arnold’s Country Kitchen, a local meat & three dive. For all the non-Southerners, it’s a cafeteria style restaurant where you pick out your main dish and then choose between a number of side items – best Southern food you’ll ever try! They had about 15 tables in the entire place and people lined up out the door for lunch. We noticed a sign for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives from the Food Network, looks like they will be featured soon! I had chicken and dumplings and my husband had the chicken fried steak. My only wish was that they were open on the weekends…we would have gone back on Saturday!

Arnold’s Country Kitchen is a “must” if you are in Nashville. |
After lunch, we made our way over to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Even if you don’t like country music, you’ll still find this place fascinating. The history that is documented in this building is amazing. I love spending time looking at the artifacts and memorabilia of music legends. Here are some of my favorite pictures –

The rotunda where all of the Hall of Fame members plaques are displayed. |

Beautiful quilt-like mural in the lobby. |

Minnie Pearl’s dress. I <3 her! |
Stay tuned for part two recap of our trip to Nashville involving Garth Brooks and how we got interviewed on Sirius/XM radio!
