As the weather begins to warm up outside (finally) – take your family exploring for National Park Week. With 394 national parks throughout the country, it’s the perfect place for a family outing! More than 100 of the parks that usually charge admission are free to the public this week. Whether you are looking for adventures on the water, a leisurely hike or a history lesson – you’ll find it at the National Parks.

This year’s National Park Week celebrates “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” promoting visitors to get outdoors and be active, all while experiencing the parks and preserving them for future generations. Many parks across the country are also hosting a Junior Ranger Day this Saturday, April 23 – a perfect time for your little one to get hands-on and earn their own Junior Ranger badge!
The National Park Foundation will be giving away daily prizes including park passes, outdoor gear, and a trip to Shenandoah National Park with their “I Heart Parks” promotion running this week. Check out their Facebook page for the latest scoop!
Check back this afternoon as I share a story about my favorite National Park…and some breathtaking pictures!

I love going to the state parks. We had my grandson’s baby shower and 2nd birthday party at Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach. Growing up in Orange Park my parents got yearly passes so we could go every day to Gold Head State Park(back when it had water) in the summertime. I know what Leland and Mimi will be doing tomorrow. Heading to Ft Clinch for a picnic and the fort. Also can’t forget the fort in St Augustine which I think is also part of the park system. What a great week too weather is gorgeous.

I love Fort Clinch too – I haven’t been there in years! We’ve been to Gold Head State Park a few times, but not since Maggie was born! I need to put that on my “to-do” list! 🙂 The weather is perfect this week for playing outside!
