I know I’ve been talking about it a lot lately, but this Thursday I’m leaving for the SheCon’11 conference in Miami Beach! I’ll be leaving my husband at home to play Mr. Mom with the girls for almost four days! I’m not going to lie – I’m excited, but I’m also scared/sad to leave my girls (and husband) for that long of a trip.
You see, I’ve never been away from my girls longer than 24 hours. Even when I traveled to Nashville to see my boyfriend, Garth Brooks – I was there and back in less than 20 hours.
Thankfully, my husband is the better cook in our family, so I don’t have to worry about them starving to death while I’m gone. I am going to be nice and make sure all the laundry is done for them, but besides that I’m not sure what else I can do to help out Mr. Mom. Or should I be helping at all?! And is it wrong to leave him a to-do list? (Kidding…kind of!)
I strongly believe that all moms need a break (and heavens knows, I’m overdue)…but this is my first big trip. What advice do you have for me? (Besides have a fun trip!) Have you ever left your kids and husband for a “mom only” trip? What things did you do to help prepare yourself (and Mr. Mom)? I’d love to hear your tips!

I hope you have a great time! Take this time to reflect on yourself and recharge! Then you can come back refreshed and better than ever! Savor every moment you have!

Thanks, Lauren! It’s going to be a “work” trip, but it will be a great way to recharge too! I’m already anxious to see how Mr. Mom does while I’m gone! 😮

I’m so excited for you. You are going to have a fantastic time!
When I went to Blissdom I made sure to Skype with Hayden…can you do that with the girls?

Thanks! I’m super excited about it, but a little anxious too!
I hadn’t even thought about Skype! Great idea! I’ll take plenty of conference notes and share them with you. And of course, I’ll be tweeting too!

You will have the best time! My husband and I have left the kids with my parents before for a couple-few days and it was totally fine. You do miss them but to reconnect is so important! I have not yet left them with my husband, but am doing a girls trip to Seattle in September and will be gone for 3 full days. I am sure he’ll be fine but I will miss my kids terribly! So, while you will miss them, when you get back I promise you will be glad you went. Your husband will appreciate you more and you will be happy that they all did just fine without you…and that you did something nice just for you. 🙂
