Branson, Missouri is known as “The Live Music Show Capital of the World”! I always say it’s the Vegas of the Midwest: without the gambling of course!
When I think of a Family-Friendly destination, Branson is one of the first places to pop into my mind. There are just SO many things to do.
First, Branson, Missouri is just gorgeous. You are in the heart of the Ozarks and the surroundings are breathtaking.
One of our favorite attractions in Branson is called Silver Dollar City. Silver Dollar City is an 1880’s style theme park. Oh yes, it is way cooler than it sounds.
Silver Dollar City has over 30 fun rides, a dozen yummy home-style restaurants, unique shops and shows! They have different themed events over the year, including Bluegrass and BBQ (yummy BBQ everywhere!!), National Kids Fest (with visits from characters like The Backyardigans and Dora and Diego!) and Old Time Christmas!
Silver Dollar City is a definite must if visiting Branson!
Ride The Ducks is another favorite of ours and we do it every summer.
The “Ducks” are actually a WWII DUKW and is a fun ride through the Ozarks!
It’s 70 minutes and you travel down the Branson Entertainment Strip, view the Table Rock Dam and then splash into Lake Taneycomo!
Once you are on the lake the captain lets little ones” drive” and get an honorary Captain’s License!
And of course everyone gets a quacker!
There is a lot of shopping! There are several outlet malls, specialty shops and more. We love visiting the Branson Landing and can usually make a day of it.
The Branson Landing has shops, restaurants and shows and is right on the riverfront!
Some of my favorite shops are The Disney Store, Yankee Candle and you always have to visit Bass Pro Shop! It’s huge!
We always make sure to visit Shorty Smalls Restaurant. It’s fantastic BBQ! They also have Joe’s Crab Shack, Famous Dave’s BBQ and a lot more!
We have been there many times when there have been bands performing, and street performers roaming around. There is also a playground.
You can even stay at the Branson Landing, there are a few hotels there. You can even walk to Historic Downtown Branson for even more stores!
There are also lots of other attractions like the Titanic Museum, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Hollywood Wax Museum!
If you are looking for a fun vacation in the Midwest, then Branson, Missouri is the place for you! I didn’t even name half the things you are able to do!

My bFF lives in Springfield and goes to Branson occasionally…..we’re both originally from WV and her Dad visits and LOVES the Bass Pro! I’m intrigued by the “ride the ducks”..looks so cool! Stopping by from SITS…we’re in the “class” together 🙂

The “ride the ducks” thing sounds really fun to me too! My dad loves the Bass Pro place too – he can get lost in there for hours! 🙂
Yay for SITS class! I’m about to get started on my things tonight!

Nice Blog! I really like Branson too. The new landing area is awesome! Have you seen the fire and water show at the fountains in the new landing area? There is a great floating restaurant and romantic walking trail too.
