I think my favorite breakout session at SheCon’11 last week was the video blogging seminar with Murray Izenwasser of Biztegra. If you’re a regular follower here, you know I’m slowly making my way into the video blogging world, so I enjoyed listening and learning from Murray. His presentation was informative, fun and inspiring. I think everyone left the room motivated to start integrating video into their sites!
Here are some highlights and tips from Murray Izenwasser’s session –
- Video blogging is about making a connection by looking into one’s eyes, rather than just reading text
- YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world (How crazy is that?!)
- Video can rank within approx 10 seconds of posting via Google
- Keyword strategy is vital in regard to creating videos
- Consider syndication for your videos, there is a cost – but it’s worth it (more traffic and exposure!)
Murray also had a fantastic list of key tips for beginners wanting to start video blogging –
- Keep it simple!
- Be yourself
- Don’t spend a lot of money, authentic is best!
- Tag, title and describe appropriately
- Start….
- And don’t stop!
He also suggested everyone visit SimpleVloggingTips.com for more tips and inspiration. Jendi offers some great information, I’m a new fan!
Murray took video of his entire session and hopes to have it online soon. I’ll be sure and share the links here when it’s posted!
Stay tuned this afternoon as my video blog featuring the 2011 Buick Enclave! I’m learning more each day when it comes to video blogging, but just like Murray says….once you start doing it, don’t stop!

This was the session I was looking forward to most!! So bummed I missed it – but glad you took back lots of great tips. What I have learned from the few vlogs I have done – is it is okay to look human! I tried to be perfect for a lot of my vlogs – but the ones that got the best response are the ones where I am just doing it. I really need to learn how to label my videos better. But it is true – now that I am vlogging – I kinda LOVE it!! 🙂

It was a fun session, I’m sorry you missed it too! 🙁 Good news is that Murray told me earlier on Twitter that his slides/presentation would be on Biztegra.com on Tuesday morning! Yay! I’ll update my post with a link on Tuesday.
I think you bring up a great point. Looking human is important! It’s hard for me to remember that, I always feel like I should have my hair fixed..but authentic is better! I’m kinda loving vlogging too – it’s starting to become a little addicting. Don’t you think?

I’ve been thinking about starting to do some video blogging. But I’m just so nervous! Maybe someday I’ll get over it and just do it 🙂

It’s really fun, Tara! You should give it a try. I feel silly doing it…but I enjoy it too! 🙂

Great reminders; bookmarked and Stumbled. I especially needed the “once you start; don’t stop”. DOH!

Thanks Jen – I appreciate it! The “once you start, don’t stop” tip is sometimes hard to remember and keep up with too! I’m going to do my best!
