Molly was born in the middle of summer last year, so we really didn’t get to do much traveling – and I think this summer we made up for it! We experienced new things, laughed a lot and most of all….made some great family memories.
May 2011 – Disney and South Beach
In May, we made a spur of the moment trip to Disney World. Aren’t those last-minute trips always the best?! Maggie met a “real” princess at Epcot and we saw the Disney Junior Live on Stage show. Molly wasn’t even a year old yet and this was her second trip to Disney! (Can we say spoiled?!)
At the end of May, I traveled to sunny South Beach in a fancy Buick Enclave for SheCon’11. I saw a Lindsay Lohan photo shoot, met Guy Kawasaki and hosted a great Firehouse Subs dinner! It was also the longest time I had ever spent away from my girls. Definitely a strange feeling being away from them for four days!
June 2011 – Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida
Remember that time I won a free vacation to Tampa?! In June, we took a long weekend to visit some friends in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. The girls went to their first Major League Baseball game (Molly slept and Maggie was more interested in the French fries) and we went to the Florida Aquarium!
July 2011 – Chincoteague Island, Virginia
I lovingly refer to this trip as the longest road trip ever, it was well worth it though – as we attended a family wedding. It was Molly’s first trip to the beach and we loved exploring beautiful Chincoteague. I just wish it wasn’t so far away – I would go back to visit again!
August 2011 – San Diego and BlogHer’11
The first weekend in August, I left home for sunny California to meet up with over 4,000 bloggers for BlogHer’11. I made new friends, learned a lot and even drove a sailboat for about two minutes.
It was a busy, but fun summer for our family. I’m already trying to decide where we’ll go on our next adventure. Now that it’s football season, I’ve got my fingers crossed for an adults only, weekend getaway to an NFL game. I’ll keep you posted!
So where did your travels take you this summer? New places? Tell me about your family adventures this summer….
