This past weekend, we made a quick trip to the Western North Carolina mountains for my college homecoming and my ten year reunion. We had a fantastic trip and our accommodations were top notch too.
For the second time this year, we used the Vacation Rentals by Owner website to find the perfect “home away from home” for our vacation. With over 160,000 available properties in 100+ countries, you can find the perfect vacation spot anywhere in the world! Don’t believe me? Check out the amazing view from our rental home this past weekend. Stunning!
Since it was my college homecoming, a few of my old friends and I decided to rent a house together for our reunion weekend. After searching on the VRBO site for vacation rentals in the North Carolina mountains, we had a wide variety of properties to choose from for our trip – in terms of location, price and overall amenities.
This particular property was two stories with four bedrooms and three bathrooms – perfect for our group. I loved that it had a balcony with a fantastic view, a large kitchen and a really great master bathroom, complete with a sauna/shower! The house slept 7-9 people, so with our group the price worked out to about $100/night per person. What a bargain!
Typically, arrangements are made with the property manager to pick up the keys – with this property, there was a lock box on the property with the keys and the manager gave me the code prior to our arrival. As part of the rental agreement, at the end of our stay, we gathered our bed linens and towels and placed them in the laundry room and left the rental keys back in the lock box. So simple and convenient for everyone.
As a mom, renting a vacation house through VRBO was simple, affordable and convenient for our family. I loved that the instance we entered our rental home, my girls felt at home. We literally had all the comforts of home at our fingertips – so many amenities and special touches made our trip a success. I’ve already started searching the VRBO site for our next trip!
Have you ever used VRBO.com or any other type of vacation rental service for your family vacations?
** I received no compensation for this post. We’ve enjoyed using VRBO.com and I wanted to share our experience with you. And if the VRBO folks happen to read this – let’s chat! **

You should check it out, Cassie! I could spend days just surfing their site “window shopping”. There are some really beautiful places out there! The tub was pretty amazing! 🙂

Carol Bianconi and I use Carolina Vacations when we stay in Maggie Valley where we will be next weekend along with my daughter and grandson. Agree its so convenient and being able to have a kitchen and this year our cabin is right behind Joey’s Pancake House. We love this area too.

VRBO.com is amazing!! We used it for our honeymoon out to San Francisco and stayed in a fantastic little apartment right on the Hyde Street Trolley line for WAY less than we would have paid at a hotel. It was awesome. 🙂
