Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, however I’m funny in that I actually like it for lunch or dinner more than I do in the mornings! This past week, I attended a special, after-hours “Breakfast for Dinner” event at First Watch – The Daytime Cafe. With their regular hours being 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., this was a very special event and I loved it!
I ordered the Far West omelet – made with ham, peppers and onions with cheddar and Monterey Jack. All the omelets are served with fresh, seasoned potatoes and an English muffin… I, of course, added a side of bacon to my order. (Who doesn’t love bacon?)
My husband ordered the Chickichanga – a signature First Watch dish featuring eggs, spicy all-natural chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilis, cheese and avocodo in a flour tortilla topped with Vera Cruz sauce. Served with potatoes and a side of fruit, (and our extra side of bacon) we were very impressed with the portion size – it was HUGE..and delicious!
Not in the mood for breakfast? The lunch menu features a wide variety of salads, soup and sandwiches. We had the opportunity to sample the BLTE – bacon, lettuce, tomato and egg sandwich. It was a big hit with everyone at our table.
And for those dining with little ones, the kids menu is top notch with everything on the kids menu only $4.29 – chocolate chip pancakes, sourdough French toast, ham and cheese sandwiches and even fresh fruit crepes….no French fries anywhere in sight!
I especially loved the table with kids books! Disney and Sesame Street books are sure to make any kid happy and I know Maggie will especially love that the kids menu also comes with crayons!
A few, additional perks from First Watch make them stand out above the rest. Free newspapers and free wi-fi, a pot of coffee at your table and diners can substitute cholesterol-free eggs or egg whites at no additional cost!
I’m excited to take my girls back to First Watch very soon…and I hope those Elmo books are still there waiting on us! Check out the Carrie with Children Facebook page to see more pictures from our meal at First Watch.
