Review: Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek

by Carrie with Children with 16 comments

Last weekend, my family and I had the opportunity to stay at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, Bonnet Creek.  This 400-room suite just opened in October 2011 and it’s the perfect spot for a family vacation!

Located just minutes from Walt Disney World and a few miles from Universal Studios and Sea World, there are so many fun activities on the property – you might not want to leave the resort!

Upon checking in, we received a resort activity guide and the Disney parks (free) transportation schedule, we made a stop at the full-service Starbucks in the lobby, we were off to our room! Our family room was huge – complete with bunk beds and a living area/couch! With the bunk beds in their own private nook, along with a separate television, it was like a mini-suite!  And like most moms, I was relieved to see our room had a compact refrigerator too.  After letting the girls check out their new beds, we were off to explore the resort!

The zero-entry pool looked inviting and there was even a relaxing firepit for nighttime.  Maggie was especially excited to see the separate pirate themed pool!  The resort’s activity guide offered a fun variety of events for the entire family.  Shaving cream art, snowball wars, cookie decorating and Wednesday afternoons is “Bubble Time”!   And the fun doesn’t stop there – each night from 6-10pm, the Wyndham Grand Kids Club is open for children ages 5-12 years old at $12/hour per child.  A great way for parents to have a night out!

There were also three restaurants at the resort – one to fit every mood (or should I say your child’s mood!)  The Back Bay Pool Bar & Grill offers a great menu overlooking the resort’s lagoon and pool area.  Tesoro Cove serves three meals a day in a casual setting – complete with a kids breakfast buffet!  The Deep Blu Seafood Grille serves a fantastic seafood and sushi menu nightly. And while we didn’t dine there, I loved that the restaurant featured an open kitchen – a great way to see the chefs in action!

We ended each night at the resort by watching the EPCOT fireworks from our room!  Maggie and Molly are scared of fireworks, but from the comforts of our room, we all had a perfect view!

Orlando is our family getaway spot and I can definitely see us returning to this resort.  And next time….I’m going to remember to pack bathing suits and schedule myself a trip to their Blue Harmony spa!

The bunk beds were so great! They had their own little area, so it felt like they were in a completely different room!

This place looks fantastic! Love that the kids have their own little area and so many activities for them to do, too. Now we just need to get ourselves to Florida!

We stayed there this past November-it was awesome-I’m so ready to go back. During our stay they even had a “drive in” movie-an inflatable screen on the lawn and they were showing Cars 2 and we could even get popcorn and drinks. Great place I recommend it also if anybody has the chance to go.

Oh Pam, that sounds like a great way to spend an evening! I bet your grandson loved it! Now I want to go back again! 🙂

I am here now and think it is a fantastic hotel. We usually stay in Disney Hotels. but this is way better!! The hotel is so clean and modern! I would highly recommend.
