Sea Best Seafood: Southern Grits with Crispy Scallops

by Carrie with Children with 11 comments

It was a nice surprise last week when I came home from Blissdom to find my husband cooking dinner!  There are three reasons why this made me so happy.

Sea Best Seafood Southern Grits with Crispy Scallops

  •  My friend Melissa from Sippy Cup Mom and I had a big discussion over the weekend about how she had never tried grits.  Seeing my husband cooking grits instantly made me miss my friend.
  • I didn’t have to cook dinner!

Grits are such a great combination with seafood.  This grits with crispy scallops recipe uses grits with lots of cheese and bacon – delicious!  The scallops offered a great crunch texture with the creamy grits.

So….that leads me to today’s question.    Do you like grits?  Or maybe I should ask…  Have you ever tried grits?

I LOVE grits!! Savory and sweet. My favorite is a saucy shrmip n’ girts recipe from Martha Stewart. It’s so easy and delicious! Also? It reminds me of the movie My Cousin Vinny. 😉 Those scallops look delicious.

Ha! My Cousin Vinny is one of my family’s favorite movies! (Maybe it’s because my parents are from Alabama!) The scene with the grits is classic!

Okay, so you know I’ve never had grits. That first picture makes them look really really good! The scallops look delicious!

    I’m nervous to try them!

You really need to try them! The kind I make are always loaded with cheese and bacon… how can that taste bad?! 🙂

Love them, I try to order them whenever they are on the menu. Northerners don’t often eat grits or even know what they are, so my family things I’m crazy and they are gross.

Well your family doesn’t know what they are missing 🙂 Grits rule!

I am not sure if I have ever tried grits. I know I have ate malto-meal and liked it, if it is similar.
