Unity. It’s the first word that comes to mind when the McClain Sisters think about Disneynature’s newest film, Chimpanzee.

China McClain, from Disney Channel’s hit show A.N.T. Farm,  teamed up with her sisters Lauryn and Sierra to write and perform the song “Rise” for Chimpanzee, opening in theaters on Earth Day – April 20th.

We had the opportunity to chat with the McClain Sisters after the premiere of Chimpanzee and they couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of this great film.  In writing “Rise”, they drew inspiration from Oscar and how the chimpanzees found the strength to stick together in order to survive.

After seeing an early version of the film, the girls sat down for a brainstorming session to begin the writing process.  They focused on the main elements of the film – unity, love and overcoming adversity. And from there, the song grew. Check out this previous post to see the McClain Sisters music video for “Rise”.  You can also hear it in the theater during the credits of the film.

When asked what they liked to do in their free time, the girls all replied that what they did for work was what they liked to do for fun – sing!  Ranging in age from 13 to 18 years old, the girls share a love for Chick-Fil-A and they have sister movie night once a week (too cute!).

The McClain Sisters are currently working on an album, with the father serving as the producer and their mom even wrote “Together We Can Do Anything” –  a true testament to family unity.

In the short time we spent with the McClain Sisters, I was inspired by their sisterly bond with one another.  From their smiles, laughter and the ability to complete each others sentences …..You can tell they share a true love for one another.

 

 Chimpanzee swings into theaters Friday, April 20th.

For every person that sees CHIMPANZEE on opening week, (April 20-27, 2012) Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund in order to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, now and into the future.
