Last weekend, while we were at Disney World, I was so anxious for us to get to the Magic Kingdom. We hadn’t visited the park since they opened part of the new Fantasyland area with the first of two Dumbo the Flying Elephant Rides.
The excitement was building as we made our way to the back of the park, with signs leading the way to the new area. I had seen pictures online from other’s experiences, but seeing it with my own eyes – just made it that much more exciting.
As soon as Maggie saw the new Dumbo ride, she was shouting that she needed to ride it. (And secretly… I was too!) The bright colors and beautiful scenery made it magical.
There wasn’t much of a crowd, so we hopped in line and I could hardly control my excitement. Both Maggie and Molly were mesmerized watching Dumbo and I couldn’t get over the new water elements added to the ride. The vibrant colors and attention to details were fantastic. I even noticed little peanut shells built into the sidewalks as we waited in line for the ride.
They are currently building a second section of Dumbo with an identical ring, scheduled to open in July 2012. Rumors say this second ring will turn the opposite direction! (Check out my Facebook photo album for a peek at construction pictures.)
It was thrilling for me as it was all new, but what really meant the most to me is that I experienced it with my girls. I was so excited and proud of them, they loved Dumbo. And while the ride itself may be the same….. the experience of Dumbo is all new and I love it!
Even now that we are home, Maggie still talks about how we saw Dumbo at Disney World. I think this ride may now be our first stop for all our future trips to the Magic Kingdom.

That looks like a great ride for the children. I love the extra thought they put into it with the peanut shells in the concrete.
