I’ve never really been that scared of heights, but for some reason the thought of ziplining frightened me.

The days leading up to my ziplining adventure with Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida, I was so nervous. I was determined not to back out.  How many times do you get the opportunity to go ziplining…. much less ziplining with blogging friends?!

So, I did it…  and it was fantastic!

Our two and a half  hour zipline safari took us across two sky bridges and seven zips to heights of 68 feet and speeds up to 30mph.  With a 10 mile radius of views, we truly couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather.  The views were incredible!

With our safety harnesses intact and some detailed instructions from our guides, we were ready for the first platform. Safety is priority at Florida EcoSafari.  No matter where you are in the safari, you are always hooked in to a cable.  I quickly learned that if you follow the instructions of your guide – there is no need for fear.

It was such an incredible rush stepping off that first platform. (Check out the picture below, that’s my friend Jamie from Jamie’s Precious Peas ready for take-off!)   When you step off the platform, the cables propel you through the wilderness and for the brave you can even go hands-free.

Throughout the course, the zip lines vary in height and length. My favorite line on the entire course was near the end measuring 682 feet – almost two football fields long!  Soaring through the trees offers such a unique view of the wildlife that surrounds you. And besides the sounds of the cable, it’s incredible quiet – almost peaceful!

With my camera fastened securely to my safety vest, I even got brave on one line and took video while passing through the treetops.  The video is a little shaky, but I wanted you to get a first-hand look at what it’s like to zipline!

In addition to the zip lining safari, Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida also offers a variety of activities for those seeking adventure or those just wanting to soak up the Florida sunshine.  Guests ages 12 and up can discover Forever Florida on horseback – don’t worry if you’re a rookie, they welcome all level of riders.  In need of a good workout? For the ultimate thrill, don’t miss the Rattlesnake zipline rollercoaster!  With dips and turns this zipline is meant for experienced zipliners looking for a true adventure.
