It’s still hard for me to believe but last week, Maggie wrapped up her first year of preschool. I wanted to do something special with her – just the two of us – to celebrate. So, during Molly’s nap time we had a fun afternoon outside playing in the backyard and I introduced her to the art of making S’mores!
It’s been raining so much the last few days, so it was nice to be outside. Maggie was very excited to learn all about the S’mores. She kept telling me “Oh, I get to have chocolate?!” She took her roasting marshmallows very seriously – no need for help from mom.
We both ended up with delicious and gooey S’mores. Maggie’s was crisped perfectly… and mine was a little burnt, just the way I like it!
I’d say Maggie had a pretty successful S’mores experience – especially for her first time! We enjoyed our afternoon snack and talked up all the fun things we were going to do this summer – swimming, picnics and maybe even a few roadtrips!
I think this is the start of a new family tradition to celebrate the beginning of summer. It was a great way to spend time together.. and who doesn’t love chocolate? Maggie had a great time making her own S’mores… even if she was unsure of how to pick it up!
Stop by the Hershey’s Facebook page for more great ideas – perfect for the summertime!
Have you made S’mores with your little one? Tell me about it…

Maggie took her job of grilling marshmallows very seriously. She got mad each time I tried to help her. I bet she’d be happy to help you 🙂

Once this rain stops that is on the plan for this summer is to make s’mores in the backyard. I was just telling Leland that we need to get a big long stick so we don’t burn ourselves while roasting the marshmallows. Anything that involves milk chocolate ya know is so good to eat 😀
