A few weeks ago, at BlogHer’12 conference, I had the opportunity to attend a Disney Junior breakfast where we heard from Nancy Kanter, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and General Manager of Disney Junior Worldwide.
We were able to meet Minnie Mouse and Jake at the breakfast and I loved hearing about the huge success of Maggie’s favorite – Doc McStuffins.
I was especially interested to learn about the new series, Sofia the First – premiering as a movie this Fall 2012 and a regular Disney Junior series in early 2013. This is the first time a series has focused on a princess as a little girl. I think Ms. Kanter described it best when she said,
“Although Sofia will have plenty of pretty dresses and sparkly shoes, our stories will show Sofia, and our viewers, that what makes a real princess is what’s inside, not what’s outside. That the inner character of kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty and grace make you special, not the dress you wear.”
Ariel Winter of ABC’s “Modern Family”, provides the voice of Sofia and fashion genius Tim Gunn is the voice behind Baileywick. Check out this cute video –
I’m excited about this new Sofia the First series and I know my girls are going to love it too. I better get Maggie’s princess dress cleaned up and ready.. I have a feeling that once she “meets” Sofia, she’s going to be wearing it a lot more!
** I attended the Disney Junior breakfast event at BlogHer’12 where I received a gift bag. However, I was not asked to write about my experience, I’m sharing because I wanted you to see this news. Thoughts and opinions here are 100% my own and not influenced by others. **
