Last week, we were guests of the Universal Orlando Resort – it was a weekend filled with fun, laughter and tons of great adventures. I hadn’t been to Islands of Adventure since 2003, so needless to say – everything was practically new to me!
I was surprised to see so many family-friendly areas – especially for preschoolers and we fell in LOVE with Seuss Landing at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Fun Rides for the Young and Not-So-Young!
The Caro-Seuss-el is such an imaginative spot! Instead of the typical animals you’d find on a carousel, here you’ll find bright and colorful Dr. Seuss characters! Maggie’s favorite character is the Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz from the ABC’s book – we think we found him too!
The One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish ride is a lot like the elephant ride you’ll find at that “other” place – except this one has water involved! Listen to the song as you ride to hear whether you should move your fish up or down – mess up and you might get splashed!
The If I Ran the Zoo play area is a great place to have some hands-on fun. There’s even a water play area – perfect for a hot day at the park. Might want to bring a change of clothes or even a bathing suit for this section – it’s super fun!
The Cat in the Hat ride takes you inside the pages of this classic story! You’ll hear the story and see the mischief created all while Mother is out of the house! It spins, turns and puts you in the middle of the action! (There is a height restriction – 48 inches.)
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride perched above Seuss Landing offers a great way to see the sights. As you travel through the land, you hear the beloved tales – “Dr. Seuss’s ABCs” and “The Sneetches and Other Stories.” Maggie really loved this ride, she even cheered when we took off at the station! (Note: there is a height limit for this ride, 34 inches.)
This ride even takes you high above the middle of The Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous… which leads me to tell you about the food in Seuss Landing!
Good Eats in Seuss Landing
You’ll find spaghetti and meatballs, sandwiches, pizza and even fried chicken at the Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous, it’s where we ate and loved the circus theme! Each time the train would come through – both my girls would wave and cheer. They loved it! I loved the Seuss characters “performing” throughout the building.
For the adventurous – you’ll want to check out the Green Eggs and Ham Cafe! You can actually order a real Green Eggs and Ham sandwich! I was told they color the eggs with spinach powder.. so maybe it’s a little healthy too? And no worries, you can also order hamburgers and cheeseburgers here too.
Shopping, Shopping and More Shopping!
A mom could spend days just in the Seuss themed shops in Seuss Landing. If you’re looking for something special to remember your trip – this is the place! In need of a hard to find Dr. Seuss book – check out the All The Books You Can Read store. (TONS of books!) The Mulberry Street Store is the superstore for all things Seuss – we even picked up the girls “Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts”!
And don’t miss the candy shop – Snookers & Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers. I promise you’ll get hungry just stepping inside the store. Such sweet flavors – you can even get cotton candy here!
We had so much fun exploring Seuss Landing! Between the rides, food and great shopping – it’s a preschooler’s dream! (And mine too!) I felt like such a big kid reliving my favorite Dr. Seuss stories and seeing them through the eyes of my children.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more of my thoughts and tips on planning your own trip to the Universal Orlando Resort. I’ve only shown you a small portion of the great things we experienced.
Have you been to Seuss Landing? What’s your favorite thing to see/do?!

Is it bad that I love Seuss Landing? 😉 Seriously… I just think it is so creative. It brings back so many fun memories of childhood, is so colorful, and provides great fun for kids or kids at heart. I loved your pics, especially the ones with the characters. How fun that you got to see so many of them!
Thanks for sharing such a fun post.

What a great overview! We love Suess Landing! Hayden’s favorite ride is The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride – we had to do it several times! He loved the Cat in the Hat ride also. We didn’t eat here when we came with Hayden but years ago Heath and I both had the Green Eggs & Ham! 😉
Carrie with Children
Oh you are adventurous having Green Eggs and Ham – I was too chicken! 🙂 I really wish we had gone on the Trolley Train Ride again – you never know what story you might end up with on the ride!
