Maggie has a new teacher at preschool this year and I was so excited to learn that every Wednesday is “cooking day”. They play and explore with food and she always comes home with a new treat.
The first week of school, she came home with “Friendship Food” to share with her new classmates. In reality, it was trail mix – marshmallows, M&Ms, Chex Mix, cereal and some raisins. She was so proud of her new snack!
Yesterday, she came home with an “apple tree”. Not just any kind of apple tree – but one made with a cracker, a graham cracked and plenty of green icing and M&Ms.
She couldn’t wait to get home so she could eat it! She asked me to take the picture below so that we could show Daddy when he got home… because she had to eat it right away!
Wednesdays are quickly becoming Maggie’s favorite day at school. Cooking and playing with food is such an important part of growing up. I’m excited she has a teacher that isn’t afraid to let them get a little messy. It helps Maggie try new foods and be creative too!
Does your little one like to play with food?

I just love this! I love finding creative ways to “play” with food. I myself am a very picky eater and it’s true sometimes it makes me want to try it. Of course, please don’t tell me ingredients because I’d it’s something I don’t like it will immediately make me not try it. Halloween is also a great time to get creative with food.

I’m kind of a picky eater too – I think making creative things allows me to at least want to try it! Halloween is definitely a creative food time!
