This past Saturday was the 2012 Northeast Florida Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness!
We had a fantastic day enjoying the sunshine with friends and family – all gathered to celebrate Molly and all individuals with Down syndrome.
Our walk took place at the Sea Walk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach – with half of the walk taking place on the beach. (How fun is that for early November?!) With cheerleaders from local high schools cheering us on – there were over 1,000 people at this year’s Buddy Walk!
It was inspiring and amazing to see so many families gathered for a fun day to bring awareness to individuals. I like to think that Molly knew we were all there to support her. She didn’t want to ride in the wagon for the walk – she wanted to walk… just like the other big kids! It made this mama so proud.
I know I say this a lot, but I just couldn’t be any more proud of Molly. She’s such a fantastic little girl that is quickly developing a silly personality. She is determined and stubborn and always loves a good challenge… even if she is only two years old.
This year’s Buddy Walk was a huge success in raising awareness and dollars for our local Down Syndrome community. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!
