A few weeks ago, we took a few days off to visit Disney World with the hopes that the parks would be much quieter with the holiday crowds gone.. and boy, were we right – shorter lines and not too crowded at all.
During our trip, I was most excited to cross another item off my Disney bucket list. I finally saw the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
What started as a family tradition in Arkansas is now a sight to be seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the holiday season, typically beginning in early November and ending in early January. We visited the last night of the season and it was spectacular!
Over one million lights sparkle on the streets of New York at Hollywood Studios, where every ten minutes the lights dance to music. And did I mention that it also snows? In true Disney magic, the snow melts before it even touches the ground – but to a native Floridian like me – it’s still pretty exciting.
Here’s your chance to see the lights in action –
My insider tip –
If you can, visit the Osborne lights right after the new year, once all of the holiday crowds are gone. It won’t be nearly as busy and you can take your time under the lights! We visited on the final night of the lights (in 2013, it was January 6th) and loved taking our time under the lights. Check the parks schedule in advance to plan your trip!
Have you seen the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights? If not, I’d highly suggest you put it on your “must see” Disney list. It’s breathtaking and I know it’s something that my family and I won’t miss again.
Do you have any family memories under the lights?

The lights are so incredible! I can’t help but get all emotional watching the lights dance, the snow fall and seeing the look on everyone’s faces as they watch in wonder. I hated missing it this year!

I admit, I cried a little bit when I first saw it. So magical! I hope you can make it back down this year to see the lights!

I can’t believe you had never seen the lights!!! They are so pretty. I wanted to take the baby this year, but we didn’t get around to it. (Too many sickies in the house.) Maybe next year!

I know – I can’t believe this was my first year seeing the lights! Shame on me! Hope you can make it over to see the lights this year.
