As a mama to a sweet little girl with Down syndrome, finding a good school was a huge priority for our family. We were so thankful when we found the girls current school and Molly’s current teacher, Miss Mary. She has been a true blessing in our lives.
My Molly is in a “typical” school surrounded by “typical” children, but in Miss Mary’s eyes… Molly is no different than her classmates. She is treated just the same as her peers and there are no special exceptions. And that’s exactly the situation we had hoped to find. She’s a fantastic woman, role model and teacher.
Hilton is showing their support for fantastic teachers with their Hilton HHonors Teacher Treks program. Through this program, 15 teachers will have the opportunity to travel and experience first-hand the subjects the teach. It is a phenomenal way to create great curriculum and inspire students!
The competition is narrowed down to 30 finalists and Hilton HHonors wants your help in deciding the winners! Some of the teacher’s submissions include visita to China for a week-long Math Olympiad program, another teacher wants to travel Europe to learn how Shakespearean theater resonates with different European culture. Their ideas are fascinating and inspiring.
Fifteen teachers will receive a grant valued at $6,000 to travel to a destination of their choice. Plus, each winning teachers’ school will receive a $2,500 grant for enhancements or cultural activities. Interested in learning more about these deserving teachers?
You can vote for your favorite finalist once a day at www.hhonors.com/TeacherTreks now through April 30, 2013. Each one of your votes counts toward an entry to receive one Hilton HHonors Gift card valued at $250 – ten winners! Winners will be announced in May 2013.

What a fascinating idea for a contest! My favorite is Sandra K. Her idea is to travel to the Indian Ocean islands of Zanzibar, just off the coast of Tanzania, and Mauritius, east of Madagascar “… to observe firsthand how the people on both of these islands – comprised of minorities and the meeting of cultures that have been in conflict in other parts of the world – have found ways to live side-by-side…” WOW!

I love this contest too – so neat to see what travel aspirations these teachers have planned!
