As a mom to two cute (but very busy) toddlers, “kid free” weekends are very few and far between for me. So when the Gaylord Palms Resort in the Kissimmee/Orlando area invited me to visit for an “adults only” weekend, I knew I couldn’t say no. It’s as if they knew I needed some “me time”…. and this past weekend, they did not disappoint.
Our room was spectacular – overlooking the St. Augustine atrium, I loved the colors in the decor and the balcony overlooking the indoor atrium was a great way to start the day. Our room featured a large shower, king sized bed and a mini-refrigerator. Resort amenities include two bottles of water per day, internet access, daily newspaper, access to the fitness center and even transportation to the Walt Disney World theme parks.
I fell in love with the overall Florida atmosphere of this resort. The four main areas of the resort were Key West, St. Augustine, Everglades and the Emerald Bay. Each section showing off a region of the state making it feel like visitors were really there.
In the St. Augustine atrium, a popular hanging was Gator Springs – home to alligators and turtles on display, along with a fantastic replica of the Castillo de San Marcos fort – just like in St. Augustine! We saw even more alligators on display in the Everglades atrium at the Sawgrass Place – where you can meet the folks from Gatorland for the gator feedings!
After an afternoon at the Relache spa for me and afternoon of golf for my husband at the Celebration Golf Club – we ran out of time for the pool, but wow it looked fantastic! There’s a separate family pool and an adults only pool – complete with cabanas, hot tubs and servers ready to take your food/drink orders!
In the coming days, I’ll be sharing more about our “kid free” weekend. There’s so much to share – one of the best meals of my life, the spa and even golf! It was the perfect getaway for us – and I can’t wait to tell you more about it!
