We are by no means a ‘perfect’ family when it comes to the products we use within our home.  I’m trying to get better at reading labels and being more mindful of the chemicals I use to wash our clothes and clean our home. Just a few small changes in my daily life, could make a huge impact in the life of my family.

Last week, I had quite the eye opening opportunity….

I had the opportunity to sit-in on a virtual baby shower with with Seventh Generation, Healthy Baby Healthy Home, Stonyfield Yogurt and The Motherhood.  I was fascinated by the statistics they shared with us…

• There are more than 80,000 chemicals registered for use in the U.S., but comprehensive pre-market safety testing of these chemicals is not required under any federal law.

• In the European Union (EU), 1,328 chemicals have been banned for use in personal care products. In the U.S., only 11 chemicals have been banned or restricted by the FDA.

• The primary U.S. law that regulates chemicals in everyday products hasn’t been updated in more than 35 years.

Seventh Generation is urging consumers to urge their senators to strengthen and pass the Chemical Safety Improvement Act (CSIA). To find and message your own senator, .
