Ever since I attended the premiere of Oz The Great and Powerful back in February, I’ve been anxiously awaiting for it to be released on Blu-ray/DVD so I could have my very own copy. I just love this movie. And June 11th is the big day Oz the Great and Powerful
This new story isn’t a prequel or sequel, it’s a retelling of a classic tale from a new perspective. With that said, the parallels between the original Wizard of Oz and The Great and Powerful Oz are so great. The attention to details are outstanding – each time I see this movie I noticed something new.
There is fantastic bonus features included in the Blu-ray combo pack. Each of these mini-documentaries truly brings the film to life in a whole new way. If you are a Disney fanatic like myself, you’ve gotta watch the “Walt Disney and the Road to Oz” bonus feature. I learned so much about Walt Disney and his love for Oz stories.
Some of the other features include –
- “The Magic of ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’ Second Screen Feature” that provides viewers with an immersive opportunity to journey into the fantastical lands of Oz
- James Franco’s personal story of his journey to the land of Oz that is produced and directed by the Oscar® nominated star himself
- Golden Globe® nominee Mila Kunis’ makeup metamorphosis which is hosted by Academy Award®-winning makeup artist Howard Berger
- A back-stage journey through each of the visual effects process that brought China Girl to life including an interview with Joey King
Here’s one of my favorite parts of the movie featuring Finley the monkey (voiced by Zach Braff). Call me crazy, but it makes me laugh every time. Be sure to watch the bonus feature of how they brought Finley the monkey to life on screen – it’s fascinating!
