Yesterday was a big day for Barbie fans with the release of her 26th movie – Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess. My girls have see the commercials for this new story and they are excited to see it soon.

This direct to DVD story features Mariposa trying to help save the kingdom of Shimmervale from an evil fairy.  She helps Catania save the land and proves that the best way to make a friend is to be a friend.

To celebrate the release of the new movie, there is also a coordinating line of toys to go along with the story.  We received the Barbie Mariposa and The Fairy Princess Doll and the Barbie Mariposa and The Fairy Princess Catania Doll.  Aren’t their colors just breathtaking?

The Mariposa doll’s dress easily transforms into butterfly wings – just wind up the button on her back and press the necklace button and her wings appear.  Catania, the fairy princess has magical wings that reveal a beautiful ball gown.

Be on the lookout for a new Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Castle too!  I think I may have to add that to our Christmas wishlist for Santa!
