I’m a huge fan of technology – it’s my lifeline.  I almost never leave home without some type of device. Whether I’m reading the news, doing work or just chatting online with friends – being connected is important to me.

The folks at Staples understand my love of technology, so they sent over the new Samsung Chromebook for me to check out.  Last week, we went out of town so I decided to bring along this pretty new laptop and see how it traveled.

When I’m traveling, there are four things I need in a PC and this Samsung Chromebook exceeded my expectations.

• Lightweight and Compact – This PC has an 11.6 inch screen and only weighs 2.5 pounds. It fit in my purse – a major ‘plus’ in my world!
• SD card capabilities – I take a TON of pictures when we travel.  My nightly travel routine is to move all the pictures from my camera to the laptop each night.  The SD slot on the back of the PC was a nice surprise – one that I wasn’t expecting either!
• Front-facing camera –  I love checking in on my girls via Skype when I travel.  This past trip, the girls were with me, so we video chatted each night with Dad.
• Long Battery Life – The PC is said to have 6.5 hours of battery life! I know I gave it a good run while we were out of town.

I didn’t fly this trip, but I was amazed to learn of a fantastic partnership with Gogo In-Flight Wi-Fi.  Every Samsung Chromebook, comes with 12 free passes that you can use over two years for any domestic flights.  Isn’t that incredible?!  That’s a huge savings for those of us that fly a lot.

The Samsung Chromebook runs on a Google Chrome operating system.  So, if you are a GMail user like myself – you’ll find this PC easy to use.  I’m a big fan of Google Chrome and the ability to sync my Chrome browser to other PCs.  And if you don’t have a GMail account, don’t worry – you can still use this PC!

This laptop may be small (which I love), but trust me it packs a punch – it’s also lightning fast.  I think this is going to be my new PC of choice for traveling.  There are so many things to love about it….

This would be a fantastic PC for anyone that travels often and a great laptop for students.  In the coming weeks, I’m going to introduce my girls to using this computer.  There are some really great Google Chrome apps that I know they would love to use!
