What I Saw This Weekend – The Playground

by Carrie with Children with comments closed

We’ve been waiting for over a year for the county to finish a brand new park close to our home.  We’ve been told it will eventually alsobe home to soccer fields, nature trails and rumor has it – a dog park. (Fingers crossed!)

Of course, the one thing my girls have been excited about is the playground.  It’s the main thing you see when you drive by and it’s been taunting them for months as the workers slowly put it together.  Well, just in time for school to start – the park opened this past week and my girls are in love….

What I Saw This Weekend Playground Time

It’s so close to our neighborhood that we drive by it almost every time we leave home.  There’s no excuse of “we aren’t going that way” or “it’s too far”. Needless to say, we have gone almost every day since it opened – it’s just too fun!

There’s an entire area of swings, some stationary, hands-on activities and FIVE slides.  My girls are in heaven. Maggie calls the playground “hers” and has come to believe that the builders actually made it for her.  Ha!

The really cool thing about this playground is that it is completely ADA compliant.  The walkways are all big enough for wheelchairs, there are activities throughout the playground at different heights, so those in wheelchairs can also participate and most of all – there is a wheelchair accessible swing.

This is the first playground that I’ve actually felt comfortable enough to just let Molly run around on her own.  It’s clean, new and (thankfully) never very crowded. There’s a great covered area for parents with picnic tables and I’ve found myself with a book a few days this past week – with kids laughing and squealing in the background.

What I Saw This Weekend Playground Maggie Molly Slide

Molly still doesn’t feel comfortable going down the slides, but she’s not afraid to push her sister down the slide!  Luckily, Maggie thinks it’s pretty funny!

What did you see this weekend?
