This past Thursday, the girls had a school-wide field trip to a local farm for a morning of fall fun. There was a crop maze, hayrides, a great pumpkin patch and a playground! The perfect place to celebrate the change in seasons.
Thankfully, during there was a guide for the crop maze portion of our field trip, I was so confused and turned around by the time we made our way out! It was really fun exploring and I was excited to get a few good pictures of the girls too. The crop field was all sorghum – I had never heard of it before, but it apparently holds up better than corn! Who knew?
This was the first time my girls had ever visited a farm. During our field trip, a few of the farmers hosted storytime to teach kids about the ways of life on the farm. Maggie was thrilled to come home and tell Daddy that she met a real farmer!
It was a school field trip that was meant to be fun, but I think they learned some things too. And best of all – they were able to experience something new. I’m already looking forward to going back again next year and I think the girls are too!
I was completely unprepared for the field trip – I went without no cash! And of course, the pumpkin patch was ‘cash only’, so we didn’t come home with any pumpkins. Shame on me! I think we are going to take the girls to pick out pumpkins closer to home later this week. They are excited to decorate and carve pumpkins for Halloween.
