Just Your Typical Weekend…

It’s not often that our family splits up and goes different directions. But this past weekend, that’s exactly what happened and I think the girls really enjoyed having some one-on-one time. I couldn’t tell you the last time that I spent the day with just one of my girls – it felt really strange pushing a single stroller!

Molly and I visited the Riverside Arts Market to do a little Christmas shopping and then stopped off at Chick-Fil-A for lunch (her favorite place). She couldn’t get over the fact that their Christmas tree was decorate with cows – she finally stopped in front of the tree and yelled “Cheese”, basically begging me to take her picture. Ha!

Little did I know that while Molly and I were gone… Maggie and Dad were working on a big project for the backyard.  With Maggie as Daddy’s little helper, they placed Christmas lights all over the backyard playground and even made a special trip to Home Depot for a new Hello Kitty inflatable. He tried to talk her into something Disney, but Hello Kitty won and she now calls the top of the slide her home.

Maggie was so excited and proud when I finally made it back home. She was ‘Daddy’s Little Helper’ and loved offering him ‘directions’ on what to do next. She’s a bossy, little six-year old that clearly has an eye of how she wants to decorate for the holidays. She loved spending time with Daddy and being a ‘big girl’.

Last night, she was ecstatic when the Christmas lights came on – she loved knowing she had a part in making it all come to life.

It may have been a quiet weekend around our house, but there were plenty of great memories made and at the end of the day, that’s really all that matters. We may have to start splitting up for little adventures on the weekends. The girls had a fun time being the ‘only child’ for a few hours!

How did you spend your weekend?
