Five Question Friday! Let’s Hear Your Answers!

What is your favorite weird food combination?
Does a Wendy’s chocolate Frosty and french fries count as weird?  It seems perfectly natural to me, however others think I’m insane.  Anybody else love this combo?

What is the first thing you think of when you wake in the morning?

Is that Maggie or Molly I hear chatting in their crib?

What’s better — toilet paper rolled over top or underneath?
It must be my self-diagnosed OCD, but the *only* way the toilet paper should hang off the roll is over the top.  It is not even up for discussion.  Ever.

If you had to be a teacher of something, what would you teach?
Dance teacher. All types…of course, I need to learn how to first.

Name the most famous person you’ve had a face to face encounter with (“brush with greatness”).
In 1995, I was in the tenth grade and I met Garth Brooks.  Yep, *the* Garth Brooks. I won (actually my dad won, since I was under the age of 18) a radio contest for concert tickets and backstage passes.  Not your typical, shuffle you through the line with everyone else, backstage pass.  A one on one meeting!  When “his people” brought us in the room, he was brushing his teeth. Yes, I have pictures…will scan them as soon as I can find them. However, you have to promise not to laugh at my tenth grade hair-do or my terrible outfit.  When I asked him if he had picked out an outfit to wear for that night’s concert, he replied no, showed me the trunks filled with shirts and let me pick out his outfit.  FYI…a few months later, he wore the same shirt on his one-hour television special.  Go ahead and laugh, but I LOVE him.

My favorite weird food might not be that weird. I like bacon or sausage with pancakes. Like a lot of people, I love sweet/salty combos. The only thing that might be a little unusual is that I douse the sausage or bacon with maple syrup.

The first thing I think of in the morning is going back to sleep. I'm joking. I usually think of what I need to accomplish during the day — and getting to the coffee so I can get started!

The toilet paper definitely needs to roll over the top. That way the unrolled portion left after the tear doesn't fall as low.

I would probably teach journalism. If not, then baseball, since I've played that sport (or softball) for about four decades. By now, I should know a thing or two about it.

As a journalist, I've been lucky to have had in-person interviews with many famous people. During the N.H. presidential primary, I interviewed President George H.W. Bush and then-Gov. Bill Clinton, and wife Hillary, face-to-face. I liked Bill Clinton because he very personable and entertaining as we spent the day driving around in his campaign van.

Doug – You are amazing! H.W. Bush and the Clintons – very cool! I do the same thing w/ my bacon and maple syrup, that's normal to me – not weird! 🙂

Thanks for playing and coming up with my blog name!

I've met a lot of famous people in a variety of situation (since I used to work in the creative arts field in New York), but my favorite famous person encounter did not involve actually meeting the person, per se. It was my last day in NYC before moving to Ireland. I met my best friend in a cafe in the West Village before going to the airport. It was early on a weekday. We were sitting having our coffee, when in comes MONIKA LEWINSKI. She ordered, came over and sat down next to use. This was not long after the whole scandal and impeachment happened. I could hardly focus on my "last breakfast" with my buddy. I wanted to choke. My friend, who lived around the corner from her, was totally non-plussed. I will never forget breakfast with Monika. But, it's hard to beat Doug's famous person encounters.

I know it's Monday, but I'm going to answer anyway because I'm a rebel.

    1. No weird food combinations. I do not mix my food – EVER!

    2. Do I really have to get up?

    3. Definitely on top. Those other people are out of their minds.

    4. I guess I would teach a voice class, because I love to sing, but I am definitely not voice teacher material!

    5. I met Michael from Y&R; in the ATL airport. We were both flying to Tallahassee on one of those crappy commuter airliners. We changed gates no less than 4 times while our flight was delayed for over 6 hours so I kept running into him, but I could not figure out where I knew him from. Finally, in hour number 4, I couldn't take it anymore and I went up to him and asked him if he was an actor and what I would have seen him in. He was very nice and was going to visit his brother in Tallahassee.

Yay Kimi – way to be a rebel!

That’s a great “brush” story, for sure.
Oddly enough, even with my OCD, the toilet paper thing isn’t an issue with me… as long as there IS toilet paper, not just a roll with 1 square left that’s the one that is glued to the roll – that’s what irks me the most.
