I’m a native Floridian and love taking advantage of our beautiful beaches! This weekend is your opportunity to soak up the sunshine. And just because you aren’t in Florida, doesn’t mean you can’t participate…keep reading to see how you can do your part! Join VISIT FLORIDA and local tourism organizations from around the state in showing the world that our beaches are open and welcoming visitors.
As the state’s tourism department, VISIT FLORIDA is asking beach lovers to walk a mile on the beach and capture the moment with a photograph Saturday morning, November 6. All 34 counties in Florida are participating in this event with volunteers capturing their own moment with photos. Locally, here in Northeast Florida volunteers include Jacksonville neighbors proud of their beaches, including a group of officers’ wives living on the beaches of Mayport Naval Station, local celebrities and members of the hospitality community. With photos from each of the 825 miles of Florida’s beaches, including 21 miles of Duval County beaches, let’s show everyone that Florida’s beaches are as beautiful as ever.
For those of you not in Florida, don’t worry – you can still participate in the fun! Beginning November 6, you can vote online for your favorite beach mile photo and register for the chance to win $5,000 and a Mazda Miata!
