To describe this week’s Travel Tuesday, I’m stealing a line from Billy Joel, “You may be right. I may be crazy.” Garth Brooks used to sing that song every night on his world tour in the early ’90s. With that said, I’ve loved Garth Brooks since I was 13 years old. I’ve seen him in concert eight times…and was lucky enough to meet him in 1994. (I’ll save that story for another day, but check out the picture below.) In December, Garth Brooks is playing nine shows in Nashville with all of the proceeds benefiting the flood relief efforts….and I’m going to be there!
Backstage in 1994. Don’t laugh at my outfit! |
After a lot of convincing and with the promise that a trip to Nashville would be my Christmas present – I was fortunate enough to get a ticket this past weekend for his December 17 show. Nope, that wasn’t a typo – one ticket, not two. My dear husband is going to make the trip with me, but could care less about the show and we couldn’t get two seats together….so I’m going to the concert solo! (Do I have a great husband, or what?!) I’m hoping that we can find some folks selling tickets (for a decent price) the day of the concert and maybe scoop up two tickets together.
I asked my mother-in-law if she would mind keeping the girls for the night, instead of buying me a Christmas gift…and thankfully, she agreed! We were also lucky enough to scoop up a free hotel room just a few blocks from the arena, thanks to cashing in our hotel reward points and it looks like we have enough points for one free round trip ticket on Southwest Airlines for their frequent flier program. Yay! It will be a quick trip, probably be there and back in about 24 hours, but it will be a nice getaway.
Am I crazy for doing this? Maybe, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see him again! How far and who would you travel to see live in concert?

I'm not laughing at your outfit. I'm laughing at Garth's yellow sweatpants, with his shirt tucked into them. I guess being a billionaire doesn't necessarily turn you into a style-icon.

Totally, I think there are law against grown men in sweatpants with young girls.

Haha! Shame on both of you! He's a bazillionaire, who cares about the sweatpants! 😛
