Tuesday Travelers -Family Fun in St. Louis

Welcome to the first week of the Tuesday Travelers series!  I’m excited to learn about new cities each week, as bloggers “stop by” to brag about their favorite, family-friendly cities. (psst…wanna be a featured traveler?  Here’s the scoop!)

This week, Melissa from The Life of a Sippy Cup Mom tells us all about her hometown – St. Louis, Missouri!

I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. There are many times that I joke about moving to somewhere else in the country but deep down I know I never will!

I love my town! There is so much to do in the “Gateway to the West”!

When you visit St. Louis one of the things you must do is visit The Gateway Arch!

The Arch is the tallest National Monument in the United States!

Once you are up top (630 feet!) you can see so much of St. Louis, it’s amazing! But definitely be warned if you are afraid of heights and confined spaces because you take a very small elevator to get up there!

If you’re already at The Arch I highly recommend taking a Riverboat Cruise down the Mississippi River! You can get on a 19th Century Steamboat named the Tom Sawyer and take an hour trip down the river! The Captain narrates the trip with the history of the river and historical sites along the river! Kids love it!

One of our other favorite things to do is visit the St. Louis Zoo! We go there so often we are members. The Zoo is so great because it is FREE and just so amazing! There’s a Children’s Zoo, a Carousel, a Zooline Railroad and my favorite–the Stingrays!

Hayden waiting for the Stingrays to come by!

Another thing we love to do is visit The Magic House, which is an amazing Children’s Museum. I remember growing up and visiting The Magic House which is inside a private home that was built in 1901. I love taking Hayden there now because it is HUGE! It has grown into so much!

They have a room filled with Giant Lego’s and Children’s Village where there is a pretend lake to go “fishing”, a store, a gas station and more where children can have fun!

There’s a giant 3 story Beanstalk you can climb, a Bubble Room, WaterWorks {Hayden’s Favorite!} Kids Construction Zone and so much more!

I could write about so many more places that you must visit in St. Louis! It’s definitely a fun family destination so if you’re headed to the Midwest you should definitely spend a few days here!

Thank you so much to Carrie for letting me guest post here for Travel Tuesdays! I can’t wait to read more!

Sounds like a great place for a vacation, Jamie! I must admit – I’m jealous
that the zoo is free! How cool is that?!

That is pretty awesome – There’s also Grant’s Farm too which is free, we didn’t have time for it on that trip – but next time. I’ve heard its pretty neat.

This is a fun idea! I love learning about the cities others live in. Probably because I haven’t been many places. I live in a boring town, but so close to Niagara Falls. I would love to be featured sometime. I’ll email:)

Thanks, Nichol! I’d love to feature you – I went to Niagara Falls when I
was a kid, such a fun place! Will be on the lookout for your email!

I think STL sounds like an awesome place! I’ve mentioned this already, but
I am still shocked that your zoo is FREE! I’d be there everyday 🙂
