Welcome to week two of my Tuesday Travelers series. Today’s featured guest is Katie from Love is Everywhere. After reading this post – I think you’ll be ready to pack it up and go to Old Orchard Beach, Maine! It sounds amazing! When you get done reading – be sure and stop by Katie’s site too. She always puts a smile on my face! (psst…wanna be a featured traveler? Here’s the scoop!)

I live in New England which for those who also do, would most likely agree that it’s very difficult to leave. As a toddler my family and I vacationed in New Hampshire until a summer that my grandfather passed away. Our NH vacation plans were put on hold until a friend of my father’s recommended that my father take us to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. That’s when the 4 of us fell in love with Maine. 20 years later we go there for one week in August and have never looked back. It’s become our second home and I look forward to growing old continuing the tradition.
There is downtown Old Orchard Beach (OOB) which has changed over the years with new condos being built but the original vibe of this fabulous place is still there. You have a huge arcade in which you can challenge your family to air hockey, racing, basketball, skee ball.. you name it. There are rides such as bumper cars (everyone’s favorite), a beautiful ferriswheel that overlooks the beach, an old fashion carousel, a rollercoaster which I’ve never attempted since I’m petrified of heights.
A favorite tradition of ours each year is the beautiful miniature golf course, Pirate’s Cove which we always team up the girls vs. boys. There have been several years that we have tied but we all enjoy the friendly challenge.
Then there are the fireworks which are displayed every Thursday throughout the summer. You can lay out a blanket on the beach, listen to the waves crashing and watch the beautiful colourful sparks light up the sky. Or you can sit in the center while indulging in the famous Pier Fries, fried dough or pizza at the tables surrounding the main fountain. Either way, where ever you are being at Old Orchard Beach makes all the difference in the world.
I hope you all have a chance at some time in your life to visit or pass through this wonderful vacation spot. If you do, be sure to wake up to watch the sunrise and search for a sand dollar.

Thank you again Carrie for giving me this opportunity. It was so hard to pick from the thousands (no exageration at all) pictures I have taken over the years. I hope everyone gets a chance to go there. 🙂

Hey Sean – This was actually a guest post, I haven’t actually been to Old Orchard’s Beach (but it looks fantastic). I sent over a note to Katie to see if she might be able to help out! Thanks for reading!
