Tuesday Traveler – Ocean City, Maryland

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Tuesday Travelers series! I am having so much fun learning about new places and from the feedback I’ve gotten, it sounds like many of you are too! (psst…wanna be a featured traveler? Here’s the scoop!)

This week, Sarah, from A Better and Magnificent Mom telling us all about Ocean City, Maryland.  My college roommate is from Maryland and I’ve always heard her talk about it being a great place…and Sarah has also convinced me!  Have you been visited Ocean City before?

As of right now, I am a Pennsylvania resident, but in my heart of hearts I will always be a Maryland girl, and for us Marylanders there is no place better to vacation in our state, with family, than Ocean City.

Ocean City, Maryland, is quite the vacation paradise. From great food to amusements and activities for the entire family, you will not be disappointed. I have spent the majority of my summers “Down at the shore, hon” and I must confess it is my favorite beach destination.

First you have the delectable cuisine. While in MD, and especially at the shore, you must partake of the local fare, which of course is seafood. In my opinion, the best place for some great seafood plus a really fun atmosphere would be Fishtales. The restaurant is located on the bay and it is right out in the open on the sand. There is a great bar where you can sit in some cozy hammock chairs as you wait for your table to eat. Then you are seated, right there on the bay, where you can catch an amazing sunset. My recommendation for a killer nosh? The Seafood Burrito, it will satiate that seafood need.

And you don’t have to forget about your sweet tooth while at the beach. There are a ton of ice cream shops that can help you get that fix. One of my favorites is Ice Cream Castle. They have an abundance of flavors to choose from and don’t leave without one of their scrumptious sundaes. We actually wanted to get one of these for each of us. The wise ice cream stewardess assured us that one would be more than enough for the two of us….she wasn’t wrong.

Then after all the good food (and there is soooo much more than I discussed here, don’t even get me started on the breakfast offerings) you of course need to burn off some of that energy with some amusements and activities. First you need to start at Trimper’s Amusements on the boardwalk. The boardwalk itself is quite a marvel, but nestled at the end of the boardwalk, near the inlet, is Trimper’s. There is a multitude of rides for all ages and good amount of the tried and true boardwalk games we all know and love. My favorite ride is the Matterhorn, but the hubs, he loves the corny….his favorite ride? The, so silly it is not even the tiniest bit scary, haunted house ride.

And then if you are still craving some fun, head on over to any of the numerous Old Pro Golf locations and indulge in the time honored beach vacation tradition of putt putt. There are many different themes to choose from including, but not limited too, Big Top Circus, Ancient Pyramid, Pirate and for those rainy days an indoor Under Water themed putt putt. Putt Putt is enjoyable for all ages and is a great family activity.

Sorry for my blindingly white legs, I’d say it was the beginning of the vacation, but it probably wasn’t….

Oh man there is really SOOOOOO much more I could say about OCMD, because I really have only touched on the tip of the iceberg. If you are looking for a great family vacation location, look no further. Ocean City, MD has everything you are looking for and so much more.

Ocean City is amazing. I went every year from 9-12 years old as my aunt lives in Baltimore. I’ll never forget getting stung by a jelly fish or when I went to my first crab buffet. I was traumatized lol. It really is a great place and I can’t wait to take my kids there.

they throw all the crabs on a table that is covered with brown paper(like a HUGE paper bag) and you go to town. All those eyes were looking at me. I am not a seafood fan. But must be wonderful for those who are
