Last Thursday night, I joined forces with GM in the Southeast to host a Chevy Pizza Crawl featuring the 2011 Chevy Traverse, the 2011 Chevy Equinox and for the first time in Jacksonville – the 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year, the Chevy Volt!
With 12 people and three cool cars, we started the night at Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues. Everyone had a great time checking out the interior of the cars, especially the Volt – very futuristic and stylish! It’s in such high demand, this was the first time the dealership had one on its lot!
Before we left the dealership, each group used the vehicle’s OnStar Navigation system to get turn-by-turn directions to our first stop to indulge in pizza! While we cruised through town, the “Cheesy” Re-mix-Summer Edition CDs kept us singing. I won’t name any names, but the girls in my car were very excited to hear New Kids on the Block!
First stop, Broadway Ristorante and Pizzeria. My advice when pizza crawling? Pace yourself! Broadway’s pizza was great and we all exchanged stories about each car’s features. My group arrived in style courtesy of the Chevy Equinox. It’s spacious, comfortable and plenty of room for leftover pizza boxes!
As we wrapped up our meal at Broadway, we all traded keys and hopped in a different Chevy to make our way to Al’s Pizza! Megan, Julie and I were up next for the Chevy Volt. What an awesome car! Megan had so much fun admiring the gadgets, that we sat through half a green light before we realized it! Did you know that the Chevy Volt is neither car, nor hybrid? It’s the first of its kind – a full performance electric vehicle with extended range! I was surprised to see that it had bucket seats and it was a very smooth ride.
Our last stop of the night was Red Elephant Pizza and Grill. This time, I called dibs on driving the Chevy Traverse! It reminded me a lot of the Buick Enclave I drove last month to SheCon. With three rows of seating, it’s a great family-sized car! The Red Elephant is a family-friendly spot with a game room for kids and plenty of televisions for catching the latest sports games! They serve their pizza in squares here, not slices…and it’s tasty too!
As we made our way back to Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues, my fellow pizza crawlers and I agreed that we had a great night discovering new pizza spots and we are all in love with the Volt! Rumor has it that after the crawl, at least one participant is seriously considering buying a Volt for himself!
Thanks to GM in the Southeast for a great night out! Check out GM in the Southeast on Facebook for more, fun pictures of our night out on the town!
**Besides pizza for dinner, I recieved no additional compensation for participating in this event. **
