Dessert is a common occurrence at our house and it’s typically long after the girls are in bed. I consider it “me time”.  It’s that quiet time of the night where my husband and I relax on the couch and catch up on the day’s events enjoying a tasty snack.  I always look forward to making desserts for us to share together. It’s fun to get in the kitchen and be creative coming up with new treats.  Whether it’s a pie, cookies or just a bowl of ice cream – our night time ritual of sharing dessert is something I look forward to each day.  It’s a great way to end a day….and always a delicious one too!

I recently surprised my husband with a new recipe using COOL WHIP Whipped Topping and I already have a feeling it’s going to be a favorite for years to come.  It’s an easy and affordable recipe….and with COOL WHIP and chocolate involved, what’s not to love?!   I’ve been eating a lot of strawberries lately and they paired really great with this pie.

Chocolate Pudding Pie with COOL WHIP

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Oreo pie crust
  • 1 package chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups COOL WHIP

Instructions

  1. Pour milk in bowl, add pudding mix.
  2. Beat until well blended
  3. Spoon half of pudding into pie crust.
  4. Gently stir 1 cup COOL WHIP into remaining pudding.
  5. Spoon over pudding layer.
  6. Top with remaining 1 cup COOL WHIP
  7. Refrigerate for at least three hours.

I typically put the pie in the freezer for about an hour before serving. I've found it is easier to cut and serve this way.

COOL WHIP CONTAINER

I’m looking forward to making this dessert again during the summer months.  It would be great dessert to come home to after a long day at the beach or out on the boat.  Cool, refreshing and delicious.

I’m always looking for new recipes! What are some of your favorite desserts to make using COOL WHIP?

You don’t specify whether or not you used instant pudding mix or the cook-n-serve mix. I believe the recipe uses instant pudding mix. Perhaps you could add that detail or some readers will make the mistake and use cook-n-serve.
Also, does the recipe work as well with Cool Whip Lite or Reduced Fat Cool Whip?

Hi Claire – Thanks for reading. Thanks for catching it – I do use instant pudding mix for this recipe. I’ll correct my recipe above, thanks!

I’ve never tried to make it with COOL WHIP Lite or the reduced fat, but I would imagine it would work just as well. Maybe I’ll try that for another dessert night! 🙂

    Hi
Can we post recipes to this blog? I have adapted several recipes to include cool whip. Everyone seems to enjoy them and I have had requests for the recipes from people who have tried them – at bazaars, bake sales, pot lucks. Thanks.
