This past Saturday, we spend the afternoon in Downtown Jacksonville celebrating local food trucks at the Jax Truckies Food Truck Rally.
These mobile kitchens on wheels usually spend the weekday lunchtime rush serving up fantastic meals throughout town – sharing their location each day via Facebook and Twitter. On Saturday, the trucks all converged at one spot welcoming over 2,000 people to the festival.
The ten participating trucks featured a variety of dishes – barbecue, tacos, fried macaroni and cheese, ahi tuna and even ice cream! Check out the picture below of the marinated chicken soft taco I had from the On The Fly Sandwiches & Stuff food truck. They also had a delicious chocolate peanut butter pretzel bark – it was so good, I didn’t even get a picture of it first!
My husband had some delicious pork ribs from the Driftwood BBQ food truck. It was served with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. He said it was fantastic! I’m kinda jealous that I didn’t get to sample it!
The girls had a great time at the event too. We saw old friends and met some new friends too! There was such a fantastic turnout of people for the event that they even ran out of food – we all left with full tummies and happy faces!
