Yesterday, I had the opportunity to witness my friend Kimi conquer a great accomplishment – she ran her very first marathon! Her husband and I spent the morning “stalking” her throughout the course – along the beach, neighborhoods and main roads….she did a fantastic job!
The 26.2 with Donna: A Race to Finish Breast Cancer in Jacksonville Beach, Florida raises money for research and provides assistance to those with breast cancer.
I saw so many inspiring runners along the course – from firemen (and women) running in full gear to moms running with babies in strollers to those proudly wearing their “breast cancer survivor” shirts. It was an amazing thing to see!
This was my first experience watching a marathon … and it definitely won’t be my last one. The excitement in the air from the runners and spectators was thrilling! Everyone from those working at the water/snack stations to the police officers on duty – everyone was excited to cheer on the runners.
Congratulations to all the runners this past weekend and especially my friend Kimi on completing your first marathon! What a fantastic accomplishment! You are inspiring and I’m volunteering myself to cheer you on from the sidelines for your next race.

Thanks Carrie! It was so great having another cheerleader on the course! The spectator support along the entire course was amazing and the scenery was beautiful. This was a great race!
