Molly Milestone: A New Love for Drawing #downsyndrome #specialneeds

Molly has a new hobby – she loves drawing! Whether it is washable paint, crayons, chalk – it doesn’t matter, she loves it all!

The last few weeks, she’s especially taking a liking to the Magna Doodle, she doesn’t go far without it.  I especially like her playing with it because there’s no mess involved!

At two-and a half years old, we are still attending weekly sessions for speech and occupational therapy – and she’s doing fantastic.

Surprisingly, the Magna Doodle is a fantastic tool for her to work on her motor skills.  She’s learning to use two hands at the same time and her fine motor skills to draw.  Her occupational therapist, Miss Valerie is ecstatic with her progress!

Check out the hand control with that pen!  I’m one proud mama today – pretty impressive!  (It’s the little things in life sometimes…right?)

Her drawings consist of mostly scribbles these days, but that doesn’t bother me.  The key is that she’s enjoying herself, she’s being active and she’s working hard.  I couldn’t be more proud of her!

What’s your little one’s favorite activity?

Go Molly! Her grip looks awesome. My 27 month old loves the Magna Doodle too.

Thanks Jenny – I’m so proud of her! I feel like I need to buy a travel Magna Doodle – she takes it everywhere! 🙂
