What I Saw This Weekend: Maggie’s 5th Birthday!

A few months ago I told you about my ‘little white mom lie’ –  Maggie thinks you can only wear a princess dress to Walt Disney World if it is your birthday.  Well, this past weekend our Maggie turned five years old.  FIVE!   She was so incredibly excited that it was finally her time to wear her dress to see her princess friends.

Princess Maggie Birthday Weekend

The castmembers at Walt Disney World really made Maggie feel special during our visit.  With a special birthday button, so many people went out of their way to wish Maggie a happy birthday and every character we met made a point to recognize that it was her special day.  She was thrilled!

We had her birthday dinner at the 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort.  The buffet, character dinner featured Cinderella, Prince Charming, the evil stepmother and stepsisters – it was a great dinner, but the highlight of the meal was the stepsisters – they were hilarious.

We went to Magic Kingdom Park and visited the new Princess Fairytale Hall and met Cinderella (again), Snow White, Rapunzel and Princess Aurora.  We even had a FastPass+ reservation for ‘Enchanted Tales with Belle’ experience and Maggie even had a part in the show.

One of our family favorites is the ‘Move It! Shake It! Celebrate’ dance party/parade that makes its way down Main Street.  We had fun dancing and singing along and afterwards, we made our way over to ride the merry-go-round.

It was a really magical weekend – filled with a lot of princess things (I’m experiencing overload), but there’s nothing more magical than watching your daughter’s eyes light up as they make their way through Walt Disney World.   The hardest part?  Trying to figure out how we’re going to top this birthday celebration next year!

Have you ever celebrated a birthday at Walt Disney World?

Hooray! Looks like a perfect celebration. I can’t believe that once again we were at MK on the same day and didn’t see each other! One of these days. One of these days.

    Happy birthday Maggie!

Mary Harvey passed your blog site on to me. She and my mom were best friends in middle school and high school. We visited her on the way home from our trip to Disney last week and mentioned your connection with Disney. We a Disney crazy family! My mom joined the vacation club when I was pregnant with my daughter, Ruth Ann, who will be 5 in December and just returned from her 5th Disney vacation along with 2 Disney cruises. My son, Tripp is only 2 1/2 so he has some catching up to do! We did a big birthday trip 2 years ago…my daughter, niece & my mom all have birthdays within a week of each other so we did a big birthday celebration complete with a trip to Bibbity Bobbity Boutique for the little girls & lunch with the princesses at the castle (which was not a good meal and the princesses spent nearly no time with the girls…we’ll never go there again…we prefer 1900 Park Fare too). Lucky for us their birthday days are the last week of November and my daughter’s is December 1st…the week after Thanksgiving is by far one of my favorite weeks to visit Disney!

Hi Tara – I’m so glad Mary passed my site along to you! I love that your family surrounds Disney trips with birthdays – how fun! We haven’t dined at Cinderella’s Royal Table yet – we’ve opted for the cheaper version at Park Fare and really liked it a lot too!

      Thanks for reading, Tara!
